Hey guys, we just posted a new gallery of our beautiful friend, Allex Daniels.  Here are a few preview shots of today’s shoot!  All hair and make up was done by KY.

KY had a LOT of fun with this shoot!  She really enjoys the whole “Pin-Up” look, so she kidnapped our friend Allex and made her model for us.  She did an awesome job.  The photo shoot turned out very well.  We are pleased!  We hope you enjoy the rest of the gallery.  You can check it out here.

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN… I GIVE TO YOU: THE LAZY SANDWHICH!

This awesome meal is for those who think to themselves, “You know.. I don’t like to eat off a plate.”, “I love scrambled eggs.”, “I love bacon!”, and “I love toast.”  Yes!  If that’s you then please do yourself a favor and make yourself a Lazy Sandwhich.

STEP 1:  Take 2 eggs and crack them into a skillet.
STEP 2:  Scramble your eggs to your heart’s desire.
(OPTIONAL: Not necessary, but this makes it taste better!  While scrambling your eggs toss a few finger fulls of shredded cheese!)
STEP 3:  Whether it is microwavable bacon or the “good stuff”-cook your bacon to your liking!
STEP 4:  Toast 1-2 slices of bread.
STEP 5:  Crumble up that bacon and tear up that bread into bits!
STEP 6:  Mix all that tasty, cheesy, bacony goodness together and throw it all into a bowl!

BOOM!  This bowl of awesomeness, will make your taste buds flip out!  Haha, but seriously, I love this meal.  It’s quick and very easy to make!  I hope you guys enjoy it too

Gulp down your drink of choice, but if you are eating this for dinner, then I suggest an A&W Root Beer!

Here at Kyody Pictures, we just got a new lens! After it came in, I was way too excited so I took some test shots.

First and foremost, check out this bad boy!

This lens has AMAZING performance in low lighting.  I love that I can break out the lens in a situation with little to no light and get phenomenal results!

One of the first Test Shots.

This photo was taken with f/1.8, shutter speed at 1/60, and I believe my ISO setting was at 400.  The shot turned out beautifully.  Very crisp.  Colors are still very bright and there is little to no grain in this photo!!  AH!  Finally and lens that can do what I’ve been wanting!

Got Dat Detail!

Even in low light, this lens can still capture the detail of whatever your subject may be.  With this being a “fixed” lens there is no zoom.  Just focus.  Which, at first, I thought this was going to be a challenge for me, but I quickly found I almost like it better than having to zoom.  Just plant your feet, get the right distance, and focus in on what you want to shine through your pictures!

Beautiful Flowers for a Beautiful Lady

When KY and I first started dating, I bought her lilies.  She loved them, but unfortunately loving them doesn’t keep them alive haha.  Nevertheless, I like to try to bring her flowers every now and again.  Can’t let that sizzle fizzle!

Getting Creatively Bored

Even at such low aperture levels, the depth of field with this lens is pretty legit.  This will definitely be my “go to lens” for filming music videos, short stories, documentaries, etc.  If you can’t tell already, I think it’s safe to say I love this lens haha.

KY gets Crafty

KY loves arts and crafts.  She loves to decorate glass bottles, mason jars, and numerous other items with different materials to make them more unique.  One of KY’s favorite hobbies-when she isn’t doing hair, make-up, or photography-is getting a little creative and making something beautiful out of nothing.  She definitely brings life and creatively to the Edger household.

The Bottom Line

In my personal opinion, every photographer needs a 50mm lens in their bag.  It produces Grade A quality and like I said above, has GREAT performance in low light situations.  If the quality doesn’t sell you on this lens, the price will!  I got this lens off www.amazon.com for the low low low price of $105.  Yes, the build quality is a little “cheaper” than the higher end models of Canon’s 50mm models, BUT if you watch YouTube videos or check out pictures on Google, you will hardly tell the difference in the quality of your photos.  Just be sure to take of it!  It’s a small fragile, beautiful piece of glass.  So get out there grab you a Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II.  You will not regret it!

Soooo I don’t know about anyone else, but when I was probably between the ages of 13-18, my friends and I would like to explore abandoned houses, go in search of old “ghost tales” of Huntsville, AL, and probably numerous things that could have gotten us into some trouble.. yeah, we were stupid haha.  It was some of the best times of my life though.  Those memories I will never forget and will always hold close to my heart.

The other night, I hung out with my good old friend Ben.  It had been way too long.  It was if we were 16 years old again!  That always seems to be the beauty of “true friendship”.  No matter how long you have been out of touch, when you get together, it’s as if you just hung out yesterday.  That being said, we quickly fell into our old hobbies and went on an adventure.  Our stop? The roof of Discovery Middle School!!

Capturing this photo was a brand new experience for me.  While Ben and I reminisced on old times and talked about what lies ahead for us, I played around with shutter speed.   I just love the shot!  I left my lense open for 15 seconds.  If it was open for one second less, or one second more, it would be a completely different picture.

After we parted ways for the night, I was just in the mood for some peace and quiet.  So I went to one of my spots from my skateboarding days!  This church, was probably where I spent most of my time learning to skate.  Did I go to this church?  No.  Did I know anyone that went to this church?  No.  In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever actually seen anyone at this church haha.  That aside, I always loved this place.  During the day, afternoon, or night-it didn’t matter!  There was always something about this church that I always found peaceful.  SO, of course… I took a picture!

What did I learn from this night?  Never let your youth die no matter how old you get.  I know I’m almost 22 years old, but if you live “young” you live well.  You live happy.

On the photography side of the night… I learned to not be afraid to play around with shutter speed!  Shutter speed is so much fun to mess with.  If you have a camera, get out there and have fun!  Learn as much about your camera as you possibly can!

Continue reading »]]> Well well well…  We transformed our second bedroom into a mini home studio.  We’ve got a sweet 3-point lighting system with black and white back drops!

I was very excited to get in there and take some photos so I immediately got to work.  Got everything set up and positioned correctly.  And… we’re off!

Yeah… Kyleen didn’t wanna be a test subject so I resorted to the first stuffed animal I ever bought her!  It was for Valentine’s Day 2009.  This lil guy is almost 3 years old!  Believe it or not, Who lost one of his eyeballs within the first 24 hours of his ownership.  Thanks to an AWESOME black lab mix.  Do you feel the sarcasm?

I love that face.  Not too mention the lighting on this one is unique.  With our Key Light being full force, the back light being at about 40% and the the hair light turned on angled downward it gives the our subject, the lovely Ky, a very strong black n white look.  Fellas, this is a married woman.  Slow your roll.

With the Key light being full force, the back light being at 0%, and our hair light still on Ky we get a beautiful black n white photo.

I was SO surprised with the detail of this photo (it was so detailed, when zoomed in at 100% you could totally see black heads!  Gross!  Wash your face bro).  With a controlled lighting system, it makes it much easier on the photographer to capture their subject.
